Renowned bonsai artist Suthin Sukosolvisit spent a weekend with our club at the end of August, conducting a full day workshop on Saturday and a half day workshop on Sunday.
He started each workshop by discussing a tree brought by each participant, allowing us to hear his thinking and suggestions on a nice variety of trees. Most participants brought trees to look for guidance on major design decisions, something Suthin excels at. And he is not afraid to cut (with permission, of course!!). There were many dramatic transformations as our trees took shape under Suthin’s watchful eye.

Suthin’s demonstration was informative of course, but also very entertaining. Suthin has a great sense of humor, a mischievous smile, and he loves joking around with
attendees as he works. Suthin worked on an Itoigawa Juniper, reducing it substantially to create a wonderful tree for its new owner, Jon Staples, who won it in our raffle.
Thank you Suthin for your time and expertise!
