Double Post! June BYOT Workshop & July Mark Arpag Workshop + Demo

After a brief summer hiatus we’re back with a double feature on posts this month for June and July 🙂

Please consider joining us at the upcoming August meeting on Sunday August 25th to discuss planning for our club show in September! Show details on poster on the MHBS homepage as well as the news and events page.

The June Bring Your Own Tree (BYOT) workshop was nicely attended. BYOT
workshops provide time to just get work done on trees or to
discuss a tree with Dave Hodgetts (owner of DJH Bonsai studio) or with other club members.

Since June is the time to be working on pines, Dave led a well-
timed discussion on the care of black pines. After the club meeting and brunch, open workshop and friendly conversation continued.

Please feel free to join us at future workshops for tree advice, to work on your trees, to learn from others, or just to check out the club! We’d love to see you there.

Mark Arpag workshops and demonstrations have always been very popular and well-attended and his visit in July was no exception. Both workshops were almost filled and attendees walked away thrilled with their transformed bonsai trees and the personalized, valuable instruction they received from Mark.

Mark is admittedly on a “spruce kick” and he displayed for us a variety of gorgeous spruce bonsai trees from his collection. His demonstration tree was a Colorado Blue Spruce which was won in the raffle by Mette Harder. Congratulations!

Thanks to Mark Arpag for visiting and to DJH Bonsai for hosting!
