Jon Romano Workshops and Demo

Thanks to everyone who participated in the full and half day workshops with Mr. Romano! There was some really great styling made on trees under our visiting artist’s guidance.

And a big thank you to DJH Bonsai for hosting the workshops, our club meeting, and the demonstration/presentation by Mr. Romano that followed.

After the monthly MHBS meeting, Mr. Romano gave a great talk about literati bonsai – both the history of the style and characteristics of it, with many great examples for discussion.

After the presentation, Jon worked on a red pine tree during his demonstration with help from our own David Hodgetts. He applied a double wire for a more severe trunk bend and added a sweep back for his vision of the literati style this tree would grow into.

And congrats to the winner of our raffle who was Dave himself! The tree will surely develop into a great specimen under his care at DJH
