A celebration of life was held at the site of Pauline’s studio by friends, family, colleagues, and all those Pauline touched with and shared her kindness, warmth and extensive knowledge and skill. She brought so many people together and shared so much with all of us over the years……..

From The TWIG (MHBS newsletter), credit to Nancy Castillo:
“We knew her effect on our own lives, how she taught us and
pushed us, how she led us and shared her knowledge and
belongings so freely, so lavishly. We knew she was a leader in
the bonsai community – not only as a bonsai artist, but as a
mentor, a volunteer and an organizer. We knew from
experience that she was, quite literally, a force. And we knew
she not only worked hard, she always took time to party hard!
But sometimes it takes an individual’s departure from this earth
to learn and appreciate just how truly influential she was, how
many lives she touched, how widespread her reach was, and
how deeply she will be missed by so many.
Pauline’s family, neighbors, friends and bonsai associates from
near and far gathered for a celebration of her life on Sunday,
May 28th. There were memory-filled stories eliciting much
laughter as well as a few tears. There were tributes and toasts.
It was a joyous celebration for a remarkable woman who will
continue to live on in each of us as we practice and share the
wonderful hobby of bonsai.
Maya Angelou is quoted as saying, “A great soul serves
everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us
together again and again.” In this we can take comfort and
know that Pauline will be with each of us as we work on our
bonsai trees and every time we gather.”

From Pauline’s family:
Pauline’s celebration of life went beautifully, and was exactly what she wanted. Everyone sharing a beautiful day in her garden with such touching tributes is a memory we will all cherish. My family would like to send a very special heart felt thank you to everyone who helped to bring her gardens to life one last time, we truly could not have done it without you. Thank you for all the help, support, and care for the past eight months, the previous years when Pauline needed extra help, and all the decades of joy you brought her and her studio through the art of bonsai. You’ve all truly meant so much to her and to us, thank you for everything.
